Statement

Work used to start with an idea, a drawing or a photo.

The process of making my own paints ( pigments and binder, etc)also has inspired my imagination and brought up images.

More often now it emerges from a bodymind experience/state, in "the flesh". It is encouraged by mouvement, breathing deeply, making sounds and walking exercises before starting work. Then I follow my impulses,spontaneous gestures initiating colours, shapes, marks and lines waiting to happen.

This process is hard, physically demanding and relying on trusting the moment. It does not always blossom to fruition.
